Course Summary:
Courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator provide the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies depending on the level of CPR chosen. All include using an automated external defibrillator (AED). These courses are suitable for those looking for training for the workplace or for their own general interest.
Completion Criteria:
Ability to comprehend and successfully demonstrate the skills and pass a knowledge evaluation with a minimum mark of 75%.
Must meet additional legislative requirements, if applicable.
Participants must attend and participate in 100% of the course.
Instructors can facilitate the knowledge evaluation as legislation dictates and/or as participants require.
CPR CLASSES:
CPR - A (4 hours of teaching time) - Cost: $75.00
This course is for the general public and workplace. The course content covers Adult CPR and choking, barrier devices, and AED. Rescue breathing and circulation checks are not taught at this level. This course can be taught as a stand alone or as part of the Standard First Aid (SFA), or Emergency First Aid (EFA) course.

CPR Level B
This course is available through the Emergency Child Care First Aid course only. The course content is CPR/Choking for child and infant, as well as the use of barrier devices and AED's. Rescue breathing is not taught on its own and the participant will not be taught to check for circulation.

The minimum course content for this level is AED, choking, one person rescuer for adult, child, and baby. This level can be offered with SFA, EFA and as a stand alone course. It is considered the industry standard for CPR and is suitable for the public and Workplace.

Basic Life Support (Health Care Provider) This course is advised for Paramedics, Police, Fire, Doctors, Nurses, Lifeguards and other people working in Health Care facilities. Two rescuer CPR, barrier devices, BVM, AED, rescue breathing, and circulation checks will be covered. This course can be offered as a stand-alone course for health professionals, however is usually offered in a combination with the Standard First Aid (SFA-BLS 16 hours) or Emergency First Aid (EFA-BLS 9 hour) course.
